An evening trip to Gaganachukki and Bharachukki

It was a short trip evening trip. This is one of those trips of mine which were unplanned. Started around 12:30 PM from Bangalore and reached Gaganachukki at 3:30 PM. One should take Bangalore-Mysore road and there is a deviation from Madhur. Take the Talakadu route and on the way you will find sign boards to the falls. It is around 130 KM from Bangalore.

We went to Gaganachukki falls and it was breathtaking and very splendid!! We spent some time enjoying the scenic beauty.
In Shivanasamudra (Sea of Shiva), the river splits into two forming an island and both the branches plunge into rocky gorges to form overwhelming waterfalls. The branches of the river meet again and continue their onward journey. The two waterfalls are Gaganachukki and Bharachukki and together are also known as bluff. Common delusions about these waterfalls are that the left segment is called Gaganachukki and the right segment is called Bharachukki. In reality the Bharachukki falls are a few kilometers to the south-west of the Gaganachukki falls. This is due to the Kaveri river splitting a few kilometers to the south into western and eastern branches. The western branch results in the twin waterfalls of Gaganachukki, whereas the eastern branch results in the Bharachukki falls.

Bharachukki is 8 KM away from Gaganachukki. The roaring sound of milky white water, wide-spread greenery…Wow breathtaking experience it was… Had an unforgettable evening trip…

We started back at 6:00 PM and took Kanakpura road. Reached home at 10:00 PM..
